As part of its water conservation strategy, EVMWD spearheaded a drought task force in partnership with the cities of Murrieta, Lake Elsinore, Wildomar, and Canyon Lake; the Lake Elsinore and Murrieta Unified School Districts; local Chambers of Commerce; and the County of Riverside to develop a Drought Contingency Plan. In the final draft of the proposed plan, the task force addressed planning and implementation of drought programs, monitoring our region's water supply, and strategies to ensure water use efficiency in preparation for any future drought conditions. Funding for this project was provided by the US Bureau of Reclamation.
On September 14, a presentation of the proposed plan will be shared at a regular board meeting for public input. EVMWD encourages the public to attend and learn more about how EVMWD is securing water sources and preparing for droughts in the future.
