A public hearing facilitated by the Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (EVMWD) Board of Directors will be held Thursday, August 22, 2019 at EVMWD headquarters to consider a proposed two-year schedule of rate increases beginning September 1, 2019, and July 1, 2020. Presentations will be held at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. followed by a public hearing. All property owners and customers of record whose parcels receive water service provided by EVMWD are being issued this notice of public hearing. The proposed rate adjustments will be applicable to all parcels that receive water service from EVMWD. This hearing is open to the public. Please note: the property owners upon which the rates and charges are proposed for imposition and any tenants directly responsible for the payment of water service fees and charges may submit a written protest to the proposed rate changes by mail or by delivering in-person to Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District. HOW CAN YOU PARTICIPATE?
To protest the proposed increase, you can attend the public hearing or write a letter to the Board. The hearing is Thursday, August 22, 2019, and presentations will be held at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. followed by a public hearing in the EVMWD Board Room, 31315 Chaney St., Lake Elsinore.
Written protests may be mailed or delivered in-person to Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District, Attention: Secretary of the Board, 31315 Chaney St., Lake Elsinore, CA 92531. Protests submitted by email or other electronic means do not count as formal written protests. All written protests must specify the rate or charge being protested and include: name, parcel number and/or service address, and signature. Protests must be received before the end of the public hearing.
PUBLIC HEARING PROCESS
At the time of the public hearing, the Board of Directors will hear and consider all written protests and public comments. After the hearing, if a majority of the property owners and/or account holders of the impacted parcels submit written protests in opposition to the proposed rate increases, the increases will not be imposed. If a majority protest is not received, EVMWD’s Board of Directors may adopt the proposed changes. If adopted, the proposed rates will become effective September 1, 2019, and scheduled increases would be implemented annually over the next two years.
